Nuzhat Gull, secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council was conferred with the SKOCH Gold award for governance (Youth & Sports Services) 2022 on Friday.

The award was given in recognition for the efforts put in by her and the JKSC in engaging the youth of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in sports activities.

The Gold category award in the field of Youth and Sports is also a result of the ample opportunities the youth of the valley have been getting to pursue sports and the development of world class infrastructure to help budding sportspersons of the UT to develop their skills.

Speaking to Awazthevoice.in an elated Nuzhat said, “This is amazing. This is just the beginning of better things to come. With every means available here now, the sky is the limit not just for us at the Council but also the sportspersons.”

The prestigious award has been given to her specially for the ‘My Youth My Pride’ scheme launched to rope in the youth of the UT into sports.

The scheme was launched earlier this year with the aim to take sports to the doorsteps of people to tap talent.

“I have a desire to change the future of children here,” said Gull. “They have gone through a lot, lived like a frog in a well, not knowing what exists in the outside world. They too have the right to see the world and opportunities available,” she adds.

This award is one of the oldest governance awards given by SKOCH – a think tank dealing with socio-economic issues and inclusive growth.
