Madrid will host the Laureus World Sports Awards for the third year in a row, organisers announced on Monday. The 2026 edition of the ceremony is scheduled for April 20 at the Cibeles Palace, continuing the city’s streak since it first hosted the awards in 2024.
“Since Madrid became the host city, Laureus Sport for Good has had a meaningful impact locally,” the organisers said. “This year’s awards will once again bring together the global sporting community, alongside prominent figures from entertainment, culture, and fashion. Winners in seven major categories will receive the iconic Laureus statuette.”
Isabel Díaz Ayuso, President of the Community of Madrid, expressed enthusiasm for a year packed with major sporting events, including the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix, EuroBasket, UEFA Champions League Final, and the FIFA World Cup. “Sport unites us and brings shared victories to all,” she said.
Madrid Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida added, “We are proud to host the Laureus Awards again. Madrid’s passion for sport and its proven ability to stage world-class events make it the ideal setting for this global celebration of athletes.”
