A 57-year-old man of Indian origin has been charged with the murder of a woman found dead at a residential property in east London, police said on Wednesday.
Dalip Chadha was taken into custody in the early hours of Tuesday after officers responded to an emergency call from a house on Applegarth Drive in Ilford, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Police said officers reached the location at around 4 am on January 27 and discovered the body of a woman inside the home. While formal identification is still pending, investigators believe the deceased to be 58-year-old Vanessa Puntney-Chadha, who is understood to be Chadha’s wife.
Her family has been informed of the death and is being supported by specialist officers, the police said.
Chadha, a resident of the same address, was arrested at the scene and later charged with murder. He was produced before Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
