Iran on Tuesday reiterated its focus on economic diplomacy alongside national security, with government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani outlining recent foreign engagements, domestic economic priorities and Tehran’s approach to regional challenges.

Addressing a press conference in Shazand in Iran’s central Markazi province, Mohajerani said President Masoud Pezeshkian’s recent visits to Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan marked important steps in expanding regional cooperation. She said 14 cooperation agreements were signed during the visits, covering key economic and trade sectors.

Highlighting the government’s economic strategy, Mohajerani said the administration believes in the central role of the private sector and is committed to creating a conducive environment for its growth. She added that efforts are underway to remove structural and administrative obstacles faced by private enterprises to ensure the smooth implementation of the agreements, according to Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).

She expressed confidence that economic activities stemming from the agreements would gain momentum, noting that expanding private-sector engagement across the region remains a priority for achieving sustainable economic growth.

On regional security, Mohajerani referred to threats posed by hostile forces, particularly developments near Lebanon, and said Iran remains vigilant and prepared for different scenarios. However, she stressed that such threats should not be allowed to disrupt the country’s economic and social life.

She said adversaries seek to keep Iran in a state of constant tension to undermine stability and development. Reaffirming Tehran’s diplomatic position, Mohajerani said Iran remains open to respectful and realistic negotiations with the United States that take its strategic interests into account.
