Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday praised the Indian community in Oman, calling the diaspora a “living example of co-existence and co-operation,” during an address to community members and students in Muscat.
Highlighting India’s cultural diversity and global relevance, he noted UNESCO’s recognition of Diwali as Intangible Cultural Heritage, saying it spreads “hope, harmony and a message of humanity.”
PM Modi also emphasised India-Oman ties, noting historic maritime trade and the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) as a step to boost trade, investment, and cooperation. He described India’s reforms, including GST and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, as pivotal in making India a competitive global market.

The two-day visit marks the last leg of Modi’s three-nation tour, following stops in Jordan and Ethiopia, and commemorates 70 years of India-Oman diplomatic ties.
