Russian President Vladimir Putin met New Development Bank (NDB) President Dilma Rousseff at the Kremlin in Moscow during her visit for the annual meeting of the NDB Board of Governors.

According to the Kremlin, Rousseff is in Russia to attend the bank’s annual gathering, being hosted in the country for the first time in 19 years. The theme of this year’s meeting is “Development Financing in an Era of Technological Revolution.”

During the talks, Putin said he was pleased to discuss the NDB’s current work and future priorities. He also referred to Russia’s representative at the bank, NDB Vice-President Roman Serov, who took office around six months ago.

As reported by TV BRICS, the two leaders exchanged views on the bank’s activities and cooperation with Russia.

Rousseff described her visit to Russia and the meeting with Putin as an honour. She said the NDB has been working closely with Russian officials, including Finance Minister Anton Siluanov and Deputy Chief of Staff Maksim Oreshkin.

She appreciated the support extended by Russian authorities in addressing issues faced by the bank and conveyed greetings to Putin on behalf of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Rousseff is also expected to take part in a series of events linked to the NDB Board of Governors meeting, including the NDB Flagship Governors Seminar and thematic discussions on technology and development financing.

The visit will conclude with the formal business session of the Board of Governors and a press conference.
