Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday held discussions focused on promoting peace in West Asia during their meeting in Turkiye.
The two leaders met on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, where they reviewed the latest developments in the region, particularly the changing dynamics in West Asia, according to a statement from Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s Office.
Both leaders highlighted the need to make the most of the current opportunity to push for a stable and long-term peace in the region.
During the meeting, Sharif expressed appreciation for Erdogan’s continued support for Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts. He also briefed the Turkish President on initiatives aimed at extending the ceasefire between Iran and the United States and restarting negotiations to achieve a lasting agreement.
Erdogan commended Sharif’s role in promoting dialogue and assured that Turkiye would stand by Pakistan’s efforts to facilitate peace in the region.
Reaffirming the longstanding and close relationship between the two countries, the leaders stressed the importance of accelerating ongoing collaborative projects and identifying new avenues to strengthen economic ties.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both sides, including Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
On the sidelines of the forum, Sharif also held informal interactions with several global leaders, including Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Ilham Aliyev, and Ahmed Al-Sharaa.

Additionally, he met Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and former Kosovo president Vjosa Osmani during the event.
