In the event of recent developments, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has taken a big decision.

It has changed one of its earlier decisions.

Under the new ordinance, shops and business establishments are to remain open even at the time of prayer.

According to the local media, in a circular as issued by the Federation of Saudi Chambers, business and economic activities are to continue throughout the business hours that also include the timing of Namaz.

This was a decades-old practice that forced the closure of all shops and economic establishments at the time of Namaz and Saudi Arabia was the only Muslim country to follow this.

The federation says that the decision comes within the framework of precautionary measures to limit the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure the health and safety of shopkeepers and customers.

Saudi Gazette reported that the federation issued a statement that says "the move is aimed at improving the shopping experience and increasing the level of services provided to buyers and customers."

He said that the decision was taken after necessary coordination with the concerned officials.

The federation said in a circular to shops and business establishments, "We hope that you will continue to open stores throughout working hours and follow commercial and economic activities while receiving shopkeepers and customers."

They have been directed to make necessary arrangements and take appropriate measures and provide services on rotation basis among workers, so that workers, shopkeepers and customers are not obstructed in offering Namaz.
