India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Thursday held a series of high-level meetings with US officials to advance bilateral trade and defence ties.
According to Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Misri met Jeffrey Kessler, Under Secretary at the Bureau of Industry and Security, and William Kimmitt, Under Secretary for International Trade, at the US Department of Commerce. Discussions focused on enhancing trade and investment, particularly in strategic and emerging technologies, as well as reviewing evolving export control frameworks.
Misri also held detailed talks with Elbridge Colby, US Under Secretary of War for Policy, at the Pentagon. Their discussions covered regional developments in West Asia and the Indo-Pacific, along with ways to deepen defence industrial cooperation, technology partnerships, and supply chain integration between India and the United States.
The meeting followed Colby’s recent visit to New Delhi, where he engaged with senior Indian officials to advance priorities under the US National Defence Strategy and strengthen the bilateral defence partnership.
In addition, Misri met Mike Duffey, US Under Secretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment. Their interaction focused on expanding collaboration in defence manufacturing, technology, and logistics, aligned with the goals of the India–US Major Defence Partnership framework.
