Girls dominate PSEB Class 12 results, sweep top three ranks

Girls emerged as the top performers in the Class 12 examinations conducted by the Punjab School Education Board, securing all three top positions as the results were declared on Wednesday.

Supneet Kaur, a science student from Gurukul Academy Public Senior Secondary School in Mansa, topped the state with a perfect score of 500 out of 500.

The second position was secured by Suhani Chauhan of BCM Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana, while Vanit Johar from Teja Singh Sutantar Memorial Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana, claimed the third spot. Both are humanities students.

According to the board, 2,65,417 students appeared for the examination this year, out of whom 2,42,755 successfully cleared it, taking the overall pass percentage to 91.46.

Girls once again outperformed boys, recording a pass percentage of 94.73, significantly higher than the 88.52 per cent registered by boys.

The results also showed a marginally better performance by rural schools, which posted a pass percentage of 91.63, compared with 91.24 per cent for urban institutions.

Among school categories, government schools recorded a pass percentage of 91.41, while non-government schools performed better with 92.68 per cent. Aided schools registered an overall pass rate of 88.44 per cent.

A total of 5,109 students failed to clear the examination, while 17,495 candidates were placed in the compartment category.

Among academic streams, commerce recorded the highest success rate at 98.78 per cent, followed closely by science at 98.47 per cent. Humanities and vocational streams posted pass percentages of 87.74 and 87.80, respectively.

District-wise, Amritsar emerged as the best-performing region with a pass percentage of 96, followed by Pathankot at 95.66, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar at 95.62, and Gurdaspur at 95.36.
