Dudu Mia, a former teacher from Pramodnagar in the Jampuijla block of the Chipahijala district, wrote the Higher Secondary Examination with his daughter, Ruma Akhtar. Both have passed the examination bringing joy and a sense of achevement to the family.

The results of the examination announced on Friday showed that both the father and daughter passed.

The father-daughter duo's achievement in this exceptional incident has caused a wave of joy among the family and neighbours.

The incident has become a test case of conviction and human spirit in the face of adversity.

Dudu Mia said he had a strong desire to pursue higher education. However, this was not possible due to financial difficulties. He had to drop out of school to take care of his family. He began to make a living through farming, day labour and small business.

In 2014, he was appointed a non-graduate teacher under the Education Department of the Government of Tripura. Five years ago, 10,323 teachers, including Dudu Mia, lost their jobs on the orders of the High Court.

He faced serious financial issues as, by then, he was the sole bread earner of his family. He started working as a farmer and labourer again to support his daughter's education and family expenses.

When it was time for his daughter to write her Higher Secondary Examination, Dudu Mia decided to join her. He decided to take the higher secondary examination together with his daughter.

Both Dadu's daughter Ruma Akhtar and his wife stood by him.

The father and daughter studied for the examination together.

On a given day, after a day of hard work, he prepared for the higher secondary examination using his daughter's notes. He was assisted by the teachers of Pramodnagar Higher Secondary School in sitting for the board examination. Dudu Mia sat for the Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Tripura Board in 2026 together with his daughter.

He is very happy with this result and wants to graduate from college with his daughter in the coming days.
