Model and actor Sam Asghari, former husband of pop icon Britney Spears, has responded to her recent DUI arrest by urging understanding and privacy, saying that people can make mistakes and deserve space to deal with personal challenges.
Speaking to a television news channel on Friday, March 6, Asghari said his thoughts were with ongoing global concerns, including the conflict in Iran, while addressing Spears’ legal situation. He acknowledged that human errors are part of life and stressed that public figures should also be allowed personal privacy during difficult times.
“When it comes to people making mistakes, I understand that,” said the Tehran-born actor. He further appealed to the media to respect Spears’ privacy, saying that lessons from past media coverage should guide responsible reporting.
According to reports, Spears, 44, was arrested on March 4 in Ventura, California, after authorities received complaints about her black BMW 430i driving erratically at high speed. Officers later stopped the vehicle and observed signs of impairment.
Police said Spears was asked to undergo field sobriety tests after showing suspected signs of being under the influence of drugs and alcohol. She was subsequently taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and released early the following morning. Authorities have said the investigation is ongoing.

Spears’ representative described the incident as deeply unfortunate, adding that she would cooperate with legal procedures and take necessary steps toward positive change. The statement also expressed hope that Spears would receive the support and care she needs during this period.
Spears and Asghari began dating in 2016 and married in June 2022. However, the couple separated in July 2023, and their divorce was formally finalized in May 2024 in Los Angeles County court.
