Warner Bros. Discovery has officially revealed the title, teaser, and release date of its upcoming Harry Potter series, just days after sharing its first-look images.
The announcement was made during a special event in London marking the launch of HBO Max in the country, as reported by Deadline.
The series, titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, mirrors the name of the first film released outside the United States. It is scheduled for a global premiere on HBO Max on Christmas Day this year.
The teaser, running a little over two minutes, introduces several iconic characters including Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy, Severus Snape, and Rubeus Hagrid. It traces Harry’s early struggles, including bullying, before he discovers his place in the magical world.
The preview also features memorable dialogues, including Hagrid recalling Harry’s parents as brave and kind, and wandmaker Ollivander hinting at Harry’s extraordinary future.
The lead role of Harry is played by Dominic McLaughlin, with Arabella Stanton as Hermione and Alastair Stout as Ron. The supporting cast includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Snape, and Nick Frost as Hagrid.
The show is written by Francesca Gardiner and directed by Mark Mylod. It is based on the widely popular book series by J. K. Rowling.
The series will stream across multiple regions, including the UK, Ireland, Germany, and Italy.
