Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh on Saturday firmly dismissed speculation about a possible entry into politics, saying he is “very happy” in the entertainment industry.
The actor-singer responded on X after an article speculated whether he could emerge as a political face for Punjab.
Making his stand clear, Dosanjh wrote: “Kadey v Nhi... Mera Kam Entertainment Karna. Am Very Happy in My Field. Thank You So Much” (Never… My job is to entertain. I’m very happy in my field. Thank you so much).
The speculation followed an appeal by Jaago Punjab Manch, a civil society platform comprising retired bureaucrats, former Army personnel and other members, which reportedly urged Dosanjh to consider public life, describing him as a leader the state needs.
Dosanjh has previously made headlines for speaking on public issues. In 2020, he voiced support for the farmers’ protest against the controversial farm laws, which were later repealed.
More recently, he drew attention during a concert in Canada after objecting to Khalistani flags being waved during his performance, a video of which later circulated widely on social media.
On the film front, Dosanjh was recently seen in Border 2 and is now preparing for the release of Main Vaapas Aaunga, directed by Imtiaz Ali.
