Actor Rhea Chakraborty appears set to turn a new page as she prepares to return to acting after a long hiatus marked by personal and professional upheaval. Nearly seven years after her life was irrevocably altered following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, Rhea is ready to step back in front of the camera.
The announcement was made on Tuesday evening at Netflix’s “Next on Netflix” event in Mumbai, where it was revealed that the Jalebi actor will feature in an upcoming series titled Family Business. The show, which also stars Anil Kapoor and Vijay Varma in prominent roles, is slated for release later this year.
Rhea offered fans a glimpse of the project by sharing a brief teaser on her Instagram Stories, captioned simply, “7 years later…”. The teaser introduces Anil Kapoor as the powerful head of a multi-billion-dollar corporate empire, with Vijay Varma portraying a dedicated employee whose dismissal sparks a fierce internal power struggle. As tensions rise, the narrative explores the collision between corporate ambition and family loyalties.
While an official release date has not yet been announced, Family Business marks a significant moment in Rhea’s return to mainstream acting.

Following Rajput’s death in 2020, Rhea found herself at the centre of intense public scrutiny. She was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau later that year in connection with a drug-related probe and was subsequently granted bail. In the years since, she largely stayed away from films, instead focusing on other ventures, including launching a podcast and appearing as a gang leader on MTV’s Roadies.
With Family Business, Rhea Chakraborty now signals a cautious but clear return to the acting space.
