Netflix has released the trailer of upcoming crime drama Kartavya, headlined by Saif Ali Khan, with the film set to premiere on May 15 on Netflix. The project is directed by Pulkit and produced by Gauri Khan under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment.
The trailer offers a glimpse into a tense, morally complex world where duty, power and personal loss collide. Saif plays Pawan, a police officer who comes under intense pressure after a journalist is shot despite being under his protection. As questions mount from senior officials, he is drawn into a dangerous investigation that gradually uncovers a larger network of power, manipulation and hidden agendas.
At the same time, Pawan’s personal life begins to unravel as his family is dragged into a growing conflict linked to his brother, forcing him to choose between professional responsibility and personal loyalty.
The film also features Rasika Dugal, Sanjay Mishra, Zakir Hussain, Manish Chaudhari and Saurabh Dwivedi in important roles.
Speaking about his character, Saif said Pawan is a man constantly negotiating between his beliefs, his duties and the people he must protect. He added that what drew him to the story was its refusal to offer simple answers, instead placing viewers in morally uncomfortable situations where every choice comes at a personal cost.
Director Pulkit described the film as a story that exists in moral grey zones, where every decision has consequences and certainty remains elusive. He said the film explores not just crime and investigation, but the deeper human conflicts that shape ideas of justice.
