Timothée Chalamet recently shared that reconnecting with filmmaker Christopher Nolan brought back vivid memories of his early acting days, making him feel as young as he did when he first worked with the director nearly two decades ago.
Speaking during a special screening of Call Me by Your Name at the historic Los Angeles Theatre, Chalamet reflected on a conversation he had earlier this month with Nolan ahead of an IMAX 70mm presentation of Interstellar. The two discussed their time working together on the sci-fi epic, which marked one of Chalamet’s earliest major film roles.
Describing the encounter, Chalamet said the experience was overwhelming in a nostalgic way, adding that it felt as if the years between then and now had simply disappeared. He recalled leaving the meeting in disbelief, saying the emotions stayed with him long after.
The actor also shared a lighthearted moment backstage, noting that Nolan was in a playful mood. According to Chalamet, the director jokingly put him in a headlock and teased him, brushing aside the actor’s reminder that he was now 30 years old by insisting he would always see him as younger.
In Interstellar, Chalamet played the son of astronaut Cooper, portrayed by Matthew McConaughey. The film also starred Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Matt Damon, Michael Caine and Mackenzie Foy. The movie received five Academy Award nominations and won for Best Visual Effects.

Following Interstellar, Chalamet achieved global recognition with his performance in Call Me by Your Name, earning his first Oscar nomination for Best Actor. He later received further nominations for portraying Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown (2024) and for his role in Marty Supreme (2025), making him the youngest actor since Marlon Brando to secure three Best Actor Oscar nominations.
