Redmi could be gearing up to introduce a smartphone with a massive 7-inch display, if recent leaks are anything to go by. The rumoured handset is said to be aimed at users looking for a performance-focused device with a larger screen, indicating the brand may be exploring a new segment beyond its current offerings.

According to Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, Redmi is reportedly testing two smartphones for a future lineup. One of them is expected to target the upper mid-range segment with a 6.59-inch display, while the second is tipped to feature a much larger 7-inch screen designed for performance-oriented users. Although the tipster did not explicitly mention Redmi, the leak is widely believed to refer to Xiaomi's sub-brand, as previous disclosures from the source have accurately hinted at upcoming Redmi devices.

The latest information adds to a series of earlier leaks surrounding Redmi's plans for larger smartphones. Earlier this year, the same tipster claimed that two smartphone manufacturers were evaluating 7-inch display devices without revealing their identities.

Subsequent reports suggested Redmi was working on a handset that could pair a 7-inch display with a massive 10,000mAh battery. Another leak later indicated the device might feature a 2K resolution panel with a high refresh rate. These claims were also in line with previous rumours hinting that a future Redmi K100 series smartphone could arrive with a 7-inch 2K display.

Redmi is not expected to be alone in this trend. The tipster recently claimed that Honor is also testing a smartphone equipped with a 7-inch display and a 185Hz refresh rate. Another Honor device is reportedly in development with a 6.89-inch screen and a next-generation 2nm chipset.

Currently, most flagship smartphones feature displays measuring under 7 inches, with several premium models stopping at around 6.9 inches. Devices such as Xiaomi's latest Ultra-series flagship, Huawei's Mate lineup and Apple's Pro Max models fall into this category. If the latest leaks prove accurate, smartphones with displays exceeding the 6.9-inch mark could become increasingly common in 2026.
