Redmi is gearing up to introduce its first-ever Turbo series smartphone in India with the launch of the Redmi Turbo 5 on June 16. Ahead of its debut, the Xiaomi sub-brand has revealed several key specifications of the upcoming handset, including details about its camera system, display, and charging capabilities.
According to information shared on the official product microsite, the Redmi Turbo 5 will feature a dual rear camera setup similar to the model already available in China. The smartphone will be equipped with a 50-megapixel primary sensor that supports both Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) for improved photography and video recording.
The main camera will be paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. For selfies and video calls, the device will house a 20-megapixel front camera positioned within a centrally placed hole-punch cutout.
On the display front, Redmi has confirmed that the Turbo 5 will sport a flat 1.5K “Fluid Display” with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, promising smoother visuals and responsive performance. The handset will also support 100W wired fast charging, allowing users to quickly recharge the device.
While the company has yet to reveal details about the battery capacity and cooling system, these specifications are expected to be announced in the days leading up to the launch event.
The Redmi Turbo 5 is scheduled to launch in India on June 16 and will be available for purchase through Amazon as well as Xiaomi India's official online store. The smartphone will be offered in Black and White colour variants.
Powering the device will be the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset. Redmi has confirmed that the phone will come with 12GB LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and support an additional 12GB of virtual RAM expansion. Storage duties will be handled by high-speed UFS 4.1 storage technology, aimed at delivering faster app loading and data transfer speeds.
