The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Wednesday sealed nine hospitals for functioning without Building Usage (BU) permission and failing to regularise their construction under the Gujarat Regularisation of Unauthorised Development Act (GRUDA).

The AMC had issued notices asking the hospitals to obtain occupancy clearance or regularise their buildings, but the owners failed to comply. For public safety, the hospitals—four in south Bopal, two each in Juhapura and Maktampura, and one in Sarkhej—were sealed.

The AMC has warned that further action will be taken against other establishments, including multiplexes and educational institutions, operating without proper clearances.
