Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday chaired a high-level review meeting in Jammu to assess the progress of ongoing development projects in Jammu and Kashmir, with a special focus on infrastructure expansion and the implementation of key government schemes in the Union Territory.

The meeting, held at Lok Bhawan, was attended by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, J-K Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, officials said.

Shah arrived in Jammu late Thursday night as part of his two-day visit to the region. On Friday, he visited Border Security Force forward posts at Gurnam and Bobiyian along the International Border in Kathua district to review ground-level security preparedness.

Following his return from Kathua, the Home Minister chaired a separate security review meeting focused on counter-terrorism efforts in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting was attended by senior security officials, including Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi.

During his visit, Shah also met the families of police personnel who lost their lives while combating terrorism and handed over appointment letters to next of kin as part of government support measures.

A delegation of the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the BJP, comprising party office-bearers, MLAs and MPs, also met the Home Minister on Friday.

Sharing details of the interaction on social media platform X, Shah said the BJP would continue working to ensure effective delivery of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development initiatives at the grassroots level, while strengthening the organisation to realise the vision of a secure and developed Jammu and Kashmir.
