Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday praised the Border Security Force (BSF) for its role during Operation Sindoor, saying the force gave a strong response to Pakistan whenever required and stood firmly in defence of the nation.

Addressing BSF personnel during his visit to the Sanchu Border Outpost along the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district, Shah commended the force for maintaining security as well as boosting the morale of people living in border areas.

“I would like to highly appreciate the role played by BSF personnel during Operation Sindoor. Wherever the BSF was deployed, they remained steadfast. Not only did they hold their ground firmly, but they also played a major role in keeping the morale of citizens in border districts high. Whenever needed, BSF personnel gave a befitting reply to Pakistan, which has always been part of your tradition,” Shah said.

Referring to the historical significance of the Sanchu border post, the home minister said the location holds a special place in India’s military history.

“This post is written in golden letters in the history of India’s wars. Standing here today and interacting with you all is a matter of great pride and happiness for me,” he added.

Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack and aimed at targeting leaders and infrastructure linked to terror groups Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), which were allegedly involved in planning attacks against India.

During the operation, the Indian Armed Forces carried out precision strikes on nine terror locations — four in Pakistan, including Bahawalpur, Muridke and Sialkot, and five in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
