Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday paid homage to Indian Army personnel on the occasion of Army Day, praising their courage, discipline and selfless service in protecting the nation’s sovereignty.
Army Day is marked every year on January 15 to commemorate the appointment of Field Marshal K M Cariappa as the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army in 1949, succeeding British officer General Sir F R R Bucher.
In a message shared on social media platform X, Khandu said the nation salutes the extraordinary bravery, steadfast commitment and supreme sacrifices of soldiers who stand guard as the country’s first line of defence. He noted that the Indian Army’s strength lies in the courage and resilience of its personnel, who serve in some of the world’s most challenging terrains and hostile conditions.

Highlighting their role in safeguarding national security, the chief minister said the discipline and dedication displayed by soldiers form the backbone of India’s defence forces.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein also extended his greetings to Army personnel on the occasion. Expressing gratitude on behalf of the state, Mein said the country remains indebted to the men and women of the Indian Army for their unwavering service.

He added that even while operating in extreme weather and difficult geographical conditions, soldiers continue to uphold the highest values of honour, professionalism and selfless duty.
