The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam on Thursday thanked voters for their strong participation in the Assembly elections, which recorded an estimated turnout of 84.42 percent.

The party described the high polling percentage as a reflection of the public’s strong belief in democratic principles and their active role in shaping the future of the state.

Highlighting the role of youth voters, the BJP said their enthusiastic involvement signals the rise of an aware and progressive generation. According to the party, this growing participation is strengthening democratic processes and encouraging greater public engagement in governance.

The BJP noted that 31,890 polling stations were set up across the state to manage the large-scale electoral process, allowing voters to choose among 722 candidates. Of these, 211 candidates belonged to national parties, 116 to regional parties, 137 to registered unrecognised parties, and 258 contested as independents. The party also pointed out that 60 women candidates were in the fray, calling it an indication of increasing inclusivity in the political landscape.

It further expressed appreciation for the Election Commission, polling staff, and security forces for ensuring that the elections were conducted smoothly, fairly, and peacefully.

According to the BJP, the significant voter turnout demonstrates that the people of Assam remain committed to democratic values while aspiring for growth, stability, and development.
