New Delhi
Two bike-borne assailants opened indiscriminate fire at a residence late on Wednesday night in the Tejab Mill area of Delhi’s Farsh Bazaar, police officials said.
According to authorities, the house belongs to a man identified as Babli. CCTV footage from the area shows the attackers arriving on a motorcycle, firing multiple rounds at the residence, and fleeing immediately after the incident. No injuries were reported in this firing, and police have launched an investigation to identify and trace the shooters. Further details are awaited.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident the same night, Delhi Police registered a case at Kashmiri Gate Police Station following a firing incident targeting a car in the Kashmiri Gate area.
The case was registered on the complaint of advocate Deepak Khatri, who was present in the vehicle at the time of the attack. Speaking to ANI, Khatri said the incident occurred around 10 pm and appeared suspicious despite there being no prior threats.
“This incident happened around 10 pm. We were told that two or three people fired at us. One of the people with us, Sandeep, got shot. We had not received any threat, but we feel something is fishy,” he said.
Another person present in the car said the firing began as soon as the vehicle was started after they exited a nearby temple. “We had just come out of a temple around 10.15 pm. As soon as we started the car, three shots were fired. When the rear windscreen cracked, we realised we were under fire. Sandeep, who was sitting in the back seat, was shot in the back. The PCR arrived on time and took him to the hospital,” he said.
A third occupant, identified as Vicky, said they were fired upon from behind and could not see the attackers. “This happened right outside the Hanuman Temple. We had just come out,” he added.
Earlier, Raja Banthia, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), said that Deepak Khatri is part of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s legal team. He said the firing occurred around 10.10 pm when the group was preparing to leave the Kashmiri Gate area.
“These people believe that around three persons fired at them. Further investigation is ongoing. The injured person is stable,” the DCP said.
