Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu on Saturday lauded the rescue teams involved in saving a three-year-old child who had fallen into a borewell in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur, calling the operation a powerful example of humanity, courage and national unity.

The child was brought out safely after an intensive rescue effort that continued for several hours under challenging conditions. Following the successful operation, the child was reunited with the family unharmed.

In a message shared on X, Bittu praised the personnel of the National Disaster Response Force for their dedication and teamwork, saying the operation reflected the true spirit of India.

He noted that members of the rescue team came from different regions, spoke different languages, and belonged to diverse communities, yet stood together with a single objective — saving a young life.

Calling the incident “humanity at its best,” the minister said the rescuers did not see differences of caste, religion or region, but focused solely on protecting a child in danger.

Bittu also used the occasion to deliver a broader message on national unity, urging people to rise above regional prejudices and remember how individuals from across the country came together in a moment of crisis to save one of their own.

The dramatic rescue was carried out in Chak Samana village near Hoshiarpur, where the child reportedly fell into the borewell while playing near home on Friday.

Aashika Jain said the child remained responsive throughout the operation and was able to communicate with the mother during the rescue process.

Officials from the district administration, local police, medical teams and the NDRF coordinated the operation. Rescue workers used heavy machinery to dig a parallel shaft while simultaneously ensuring a continuous oxygen supply to the trapped child.
