Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gaurav Bhatia on Tuesday alleged that Rahul Gandhi had orchestrated a “conspiracy to embarrass India” following the arrest of Indian Youth Congress (IYC) president Uday Bhanu Chib in connection with a protest during the India AI Impact Summit 2026.
Addressing a press conference in the national capital, Bhatia described Gandhi as India’s “weakest link” and questioned his understanding of the Constitution. He claimed that the protest at Bharat Mandapam was deliberately planned to malign the country on a global platform.
“Rahul Gandhi hatched this conspiracy to embarrass India. Uday Bhanu Chib was arrested for organising a shirtless protest by Youth Congress workers during the AI Summit. The Delhi Police sought seven days’ remand, and the court has granted four days of police custody,” Bhatia said. He further alleged that Gandhi had not even read the Constitution, adding that every citizen is bound together by constitutional values.
Earlier in the day, a Delhi court remanded Chib to four days of police custody in connection with the protest case. According to officials, Chib is accused of being the main conspirator behind an unlawful assembly at the venue on Friday, February 20, 2026, during which anti-national slogans were allegedly raised and attempts were made to create a riot-like situation.
Police have alleged that Chib, along with co-accused Shree Krishna Hari, Kundan Yadav, Narsimha Yadav and Ajay Kumar Yadav, obstructed and assaulted police personnel on duty. Investigators also claimed that during interrogation, he did not cooperate and failed to disclose details about other alleged accomplices who fled the scene or the source of T-shirts worn by protesters.
