The historic Brigade Parade Ground turned into a vibrant spectacle of colour and sound on Saturday as thousands of supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gathered ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in the city.
Supporters from different parts of the state began arriving at the venue since morning.
Many danced to the beats of traditional musical instruments, while colourful BJP flags, hoardings and cut-outs created a festive atmosphere across the sprawling ground.
Among the crowd, unique expressions of devotion and political messaging drew attention.
A woman from Thakurnagar arrived dressed as Lord Rama, with blue body paint and carrying a bow and arrow.
The woman, who also writes songs for Modi, expressed admiration for the prime minister and said his leadership inspires her work.
Thousands of supporters travelled long distances across districts to attend the rally as the BJP gears up for the upcoming assembly elections in the state.
The theme of the dais at the Brigade Parade Ground is an 80-feet-wide stage designed as a replica of the Dakshineswar Kali Temple.
According to organisers, around 10,000 party flags, 500 flex banners and 50 large cut-outs have been put up at the venue.
