Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh on Saturday urged National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets to remain courageous, curious and committed to national ideals, describing them as the “architects of Viksit Bharat”.

Singh visited the ongoing NCC Republic Day Camp at Delhi Cantonment and addressed a gathering of cadets earlier in the day.

Emphasising that values instilled by the NCC guide individuals throughout life, he said the organisation shapes responsible leaders who can “think clearly, act justly and uphold integrity”, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

Congratulating the cadets for a spectacular presentation at the camp, Singh said their passion, talent, discipline and enthusiasm reflected India’s rich cultural diversity and the NCC’s motto of ‘Unity and Discipline’.

Highlighting the role played by the NCC over the past seven decades, the defence secretary said the Corps has made a significant contribution to nation-building by instilling discipline, selfless service and national pride among the youth. He also underlined the NCC’s role in disaster response, environmental protection and various civic initiatives.

Singh commended the exceptional courage and dedication displayed by NCC cadets during Operation Sindoor, particularly in carrying out civil defence duties. He also lauded their contributions to government initiatives such as the Yamuna cleanup campaign, blood donation drives and relief work during the Wayanad floods in Kerala.

Appreciating the cadets’ achievements in sports, including shooting, hockey and equestrian events, Singh noted that the NCC’s emphasis on adventure activities such as mountaineering, sailing and parachuting helps channelise youthful energy towards fitness, discipline and perseverance.
