Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday visited the Kali Temple in Chittaranjan Park along with BJP national president Nitin Nabin to offer prayers following the party’s landmark victory in the 2026 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election.

After offering prayers, Gupta described the election outcome as a defining moment in the country’s political journey. She said the mandate reflected growing public confidence in development-oriented governance and nationalist politics under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

She remarked that the BJP’s victory symbolised the party’s expanding influence across the country, adding that the electoral verdict demonstrated the people’s support for policies centred on growth, stability and national interest.

Referring to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, the chief minister criticised opposition parties that had opposed the legislation in Parliament, saying women voters in West Bengal had delivered a clear and decisive response through the ballot.

Gupta said women in the state had chosen to reject politics driven by fear, violence and appeasement, and had instead voted in support of dignity, security and empowerment.

She credited women voters for playing a crucial role in strengthening democratic values despite what she described as a challenging political atmosphere, adding that the result reflected the success of initiatives aimed at women’s safety, rights and social empowerment under Modi’s leadership.

Calling the victory a tribute to the dedication and sacrifices of party workers, Gupta said the mandate was a powerful endorsement of democratic faith and courageous public participation.
