Delhi govt announces night curfew as COVID-19 cases rise

New Delhi

The Delhi government on Sunday announced that night curfew will come into force in the national capital from Monday amid rising COVID-19 cases.

The curfew will be imposed from 11 pm to 5 am. Delhi reported 290 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which is the highest number of cases recorded since June 10.

The new cases have taken the total number of cases in Delhi to 1,103. One person has succumbed to the infection in Delhi in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 25,105. 

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced three major decisions in the fight against the disease including the start of vaccination for children in the 15-18 age group from January 3. In an address to the nation, the Prime Minister said the government was following scientific advice in the vaccination drive against COVID-19.
