People who dream big are the ones who achieve great things, said Speaker of the Lok Sabha Om Birla on Thursday.

He was attending the annual day celebrations of Delhi University’s Maharaja Agrasen College, where he addressed students as the chief guest.

The event was presided over by Rajni Abbi, Director of South Campus, and held at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Auditorium.

Speaking on the occasion, Birla highlighted the legacy of Maharaja Agrasen, after whom the college is named, and described him as a far-sighted leader whose ideals continue to inspire even in the present era.

"When you read and understand Maharaja Agrasen's life and vision, you realise how far-sighted a leader he was. He set an example of how a ruler should be. Stories of his rule continue to inspire us even in today's era of democracy," he said.

He added that it is important for future generations to draw inspiration from great personalities of the past.

Referring to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Birla said India has seen the birth of many leaders who laid the foundation of the country's democratic framework.
