The Enforcement Directorate has issued fresh summons to Reliance Group chairman Anil Ambani and his wife Tina Ambani for questioning in a money laundering investigation, officials said on Tuesday.

According to officials, Tina Ambani, 68, was earlier asked to appear before the agency on Monday but did not turn up. She has now been directed to depose on February 17, while Anil Ambani, 66, has been summoned a day later on February 18.

Their statements will be recorded under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) once they appear before the agency, officials said.

A response from the Reliance Group on the fresh summons is awaited.

Anil Ambani had been questioned by the ED once last year in connection with the ongoing probe, which relates to multiple Reliance Group companies and alleged irregularities in bank loans.

Officials said Tina Ambani has been called in connection with a money trail linked to the purchase of a high-end condominium in Manhattan, New York.

As part of the investigation, the ED had recently arrested former Reliance Communications (RCOM) president Punit Garg.

The federal agency has alleged that the New York property was “fraudulently” sold in 2023 during the corporate insolvency resolution process (CIRP) of RCOM.

According to the ED, RCOM informed the stock exchange about the alleged fraudulent sale in 2025.

“The sale proceeds of USD 8.3 million (approximately Rs 69.55 crore in 2023) were transferred from the United States under the guise of a sham investment arrangement involving a Dubai-based entity controlled by a Pakistan-linked individual, without the knowledge or approval of the resolution professional,” the agency had claimed earlier.

The ED has also recently formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe multiple cases of alleged bank fraud and related financial irregularities involving the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG), following directions from the Supreme Court.
