General Anil Chauhan held talks with his British counterpart Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Knighton during an official visit to the United Kingdom, as both sides reaffirmed their commitment to jointly tackle emerging global challenges.

The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral defence ties and addressing issues such as trade imbalances, cyber threats, technological transformation and regional security. According to India’s defence authorities, both nations also reiterated support for a peaceful and prosperous Indo-Pacific.

The meetings highlighted growing strategic alignment between India and the UK, particularly in modern warfare capabilities, economic resilience and security cooperation. Officials said the visit is expected to further deepen defence collaboration and reinforce commitments to global stability and resilience.

During the trip, General Chauhan also met leaders from the UK defence industry and emphasised stronger industrial cooperation in defence manufacturing, technology transfer and resilient supply chains. He said closer economic ties could support co-design, co-development and co-production of critical technologies.

Earlier, the Indian CDS visited Memorial Gates to lay a wreath in tribute to fallen military personnel. Officials described the ceremony as reflecting shared military traditions and common values of remembrance, service and sacrifice.

General Chauhan also met Seema Malhotra and chaired a roundtable discussion with senior officials and think-tanks on the theme of Indian military transformation, its challenges and opportunities.

The visit began on Monday with a ceremonial welcome in London. According to officials, discussions also covered cyber security, intelligence sharing and joint military exercises.

During his stay, General Chauhan is also scheduled to visit the Royal College of Defence Studies for interactions with international students.
