A Jaipur court on Wednesday remanded a 26-year-old man accused of passing sensitive information to Pakistani intelligence operatives to five days of police custody for further interrogation.

The accused, identified as Mustaq Ali from Higoala Ki Dhani village in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district, was presented before the court of the Special Judicial Magistrate, Jaipur Metropolitan-I, by officials of the CID (Intelligence) after his arrest on Tuesday.

Special Public Prosecutor Sudesh Satwan informed reporters that investigators had requested a seven-day remand to question the accused in detail. However, the court granted police custody until June 22.

According to officials, intelligence agencies had been closely monitoring suspected cross-border espionage activities, and Ali came under scrutiny due to suspicious movements and communications.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Ali had allegedly been in touch with operatives linked to Pakistani intelligence agencies through social media platforms for nearly two years. Examination of his mobile phone and subsequent questioning reportedly revealed that he had been assigned the task of gathering information about the movement of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Indian Army in sensitive border areas.

Investigators alleged that Ali set up a tea stall on a route leading towards the international border, using the business as a cover to observe and monitor the activities of security personnel.

During the probe, it was found that he allegedly photographed and recorded videos of troop movements and other security-related activities before transmitting the material to his handlers across the border. In return, he is believed to have received financial compensation.

Following his arrest, Ali was questioned jointly by multiple intelligence and security agencies in Jaipur. Authorities are now attempting to determine the extent of his network, identify any associates, and uncover possible links to a wider espionage operation.
