The Shiv Sena (UBT) on Monday held a protest in Jammu over alleged attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, with party leaders expressing concern about the situation in the neighbouring country.

Addressing party workers during the demonstration, Jammu and Kashmir Shiv Sena (UBT) president Manish Sahni alleged that members of the Hindu community were being targeted in Bangladesh. He claimed that the political and security situation there was deteriorating and urged the central government to take strong measures.

Speaking to reporters, Sahni called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene, demanding decisive action to ensure the safety of Hindus and to counter terrorism in the region. Protesters raised slogans and pressed for immediate steps to address their concerns.

Earlier this month, Assam Border Protection and Development Minister Atul Bora had also voiced concern over incidents involving Hindus in Bangladesh, describing the political situation in the country as “very serious.”

Speaking in Golaghat on January 7, Bora said violence against Hindus in Bangladesh had been occurring for a long time and needed to be strongly condemned. However, he added that the security situation along the India-Bangladesh border had improved compared to previous years.

Bora noted that incidents of infiltration had declined and said security forces, including the Border Security Force and Assam Police, were maintaining a high level of alert along the border.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs has also expressed concern over repeated attacks on minorities in Bangladesh. Addressing the issue during a weekly press briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India had observed a troubling pattern of assaults on minority communities, as well as damage to their homes and businesses.
