In the communal riots in Karauli district of Rajasthan many lives were lost, properties destroyed and livelihoods upended.
Shopkeepers and property owners were forced to seek refuge on the streets after the riots. Waheed Khan, is one amongst many who lost everything on April 2. Aasif Mujtaba. a journalist and a research scholar has taken to twitter for crowd funding.
In a video shared by him, Waheed can be seen sharing his loss that was his only means of livelihood. The post was captioned as, "Waheed Khan couldn't control his tears while talking to me about the pain & sufferings. He lost the only source of livelihood, a shop that the family was running for the past 48 years. This fundraiser would help him in setting his livelihood."

A sum of Rs 3 lakhswas collected in a few hours. Asif in another tweet stated that he'd be transferring the amount in the beneficiary account by April 13.

Asif is associated with an NGO called Miles2Smile, headquartered in New Delhi that is known for helping victims of the violence. Asif claims that 59 businesses (ranging from medium to small) that were gutted in the Karauli anti Muslim Riots, 15 of them were small & they need quick rehabilitation. This fundraiser is for the 15 small unit.

For the unversed the violence at Karauli occurred on April 2 when some people allegedly threw stones at a bike rally on the occasion of Hindu New Year. Several vehicles and shops were set on fire.
