Pema Khandu on Saturday congratulated Suvendu Adhikari on taking oath as the first chief minister of Bharatiya Janata Party in West Bengal and expressed confidence that the state was entering a new phase of development and governance.
Khandu said the people of West Bengal could look forward to a period in which development reaches every region, citizens’ voices are heard and opportunities expand across the state.
Adhikari, along with five other BJP legislators, took oath at the historic Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, senior party leaders and chief ministers from NDA-ruled states.
In a message shared on social media after attending the ceremony, Khandu described the swearing-in as the beginning of a new chapter for West Bengal, one he said would be shaped by development, peace and social harmony.
He also credited the leadership of Modi and Shah for the BJP’s emergence in the state and said their guidance would help drive transformation and stronger governance.

Khandu expressed hope that West Bengal would move beyond years of uncertainty and progress toward greater peace, prosperity and renewed public confidence.
