Kolkata Metro Railway will commence services from 4 AM on Sunday, June 21, significantly earlier than its usual schedule, to facilitate travel for participants attending the International Day of Yoga celebrations at Red Road and candidates appearing for the NEET-UG examination.
Metro authorities have also scheduled additional train services across key corridors to accommodate the anticipated surge in passenger traffic. However, the timings of the last trains from terminal stations will remain unchanged.
On the Blue Line between Dakshineswar and Shahid Khudiram, 214 services (107 in each direction) will operate, compared to the regular 152 services on Sundays. Trains will run every 14–15 minutes between 4 AM and 8 AM.
The Green Line, connecting Howrah Maidan and Salt Lake Sector V, will see 173 services (87 up and 86 down), up from the usual 108 Sunday services. Train frequency will be maintained at 10–15-minute intervals from 4 AM to 9 AM.
On the Yellow Line between Noapara and Jai Hind Bimanbandar, Metro Railway will operate 112 services (56 in each direction), compared to the standard 78 Sunday services. Trains will run every 18–20 minutes between 4:18 AM and 9 AM.
After the morning rush, all three corridors will revert to their normal Sunday timetable.
Metro officials also clarified that services on the Purple Line and Orange Line will remain suspended on Sunday.
