Latehar
Two self-styled commanders of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) were arrested in Jharkhand’s Latehar district, police said on Saturday.
Arms and ammunition, including an AK-47, were recovered from their possession, officials said.
The arrests were made following a tip-off that a CPI (Maoist) “zonal commander” was moving with his squad in the Netarhat, Mahuadanr, Baresand, Garu and Chhipadohar areas, Latehar Superintendent of Police Kumar Gaurav said.
“Based on the information, a police team was formed and a search operation conducted within Chhipadohar police station limits. During the operation, the duo was arrested, while three others managed to escape,” Gaurav told reporters.
