Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated and dedicated development projects worth around ₹1,340 crore in Daman, including the new terminal building of NAMO Airport and the state-of-the-art NAMO Hospital, while also laying the foundation stone for projects valued at approximately ₹1,630 crore.
According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the initiatives span sectors such as healthcare, aviation, tourism, connectivity, public welfare and infrastructure, and are expected to accelerate the overall development of the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
The newly inaugurated terminal building at NAMO Airport is expected to enhance regional air connectivity and support economic activity in the region. Meanwhile, NAMO Hospital, developed as the district hospital for Daman, has been designed to cater to nearly 1,500 outpatients daily, significantly improving access to healthcare services.
Among the major projects for which foundation stones were laid are the Iconic Bridge, the Daman Convention Centre and the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) campus in Daman. These initiatives are expected to strengthen infrastructure, attract investments, boost tourism and generate employment opportunities.
In total, projects worth nearly ₹2,970 crore were either inaugurated or launched by the Prime Minister during the event.
In addition, Modi laid the foundation stone for projects worth around ₹885 crore in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep. These include the development of port infrastructure on both the eastern and western sides of Kalpeni and Kadmat islands.
The proposed multipurpose jetties will enable year-round docking of large passenger and cruise vessels measuring up to 300 metres in length. The facilities are also expected to improve cargo and passenger handling operations while providing integrated services such as fish processing, fuel supply, ice storage and boat repair.

The PMO said the projects in Lakshadweep will enhance maritime connectivity, support local fishing communities, promote tourism and contribute to the islands' socio-economic growth.
