Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi has underlined the need for closer coordination and seamless interoperability among the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard to tackle evolving security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.
During his two-day visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) from April 21 to 22, Admiral Tripathi reviewed operational preparedness and discussed steps to strengthen joint functioning among the armed forces.
Officials said he held extensive discussions with senior officers and received updates on ongoing operations and strategic initiatives in the island territory. Talks focused on improving readiness levels, boosting cooperation and deepening integration between the services.
Emphasising the strategic importance of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Navy chief said the ANC plays a crucial role in ensuring maritime security, enhancing surveillance capabilities and maintaining rapid response readiness, especially due to its location near vital international sea routes.
He also interacted with defence personnel stationed there and praised their professionalism, commitment and high level of preparedness in protecting India’s maritime borders.

Earlier in January, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan had visited the islands and inaugurated the upgraded runway at the Indian Air Force base in Car Nicobar. Expanded apron areas at the base are expected to support quicker deployments and long-range missions.
