The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has finalised its seat-sharing formula for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, outlining the distribution of constituencies among its key partners.

Under the arrangement, the alliance led by All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam will contest 178 of the 234 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party has been allocated 27 seats, while the Pattali Makkal Katchi will contest 18 constituencies and the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam has been given 11 seats.

The announcement was made by AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami at a joint press conference held at the party headquarters in Chennai. The event was attended by Union Minister Piyush Goyal, BJP Tamil Nadu president Nainar Nagendran, PMK chief Anbumani Ramadoss, and AMMK general secretary T. T. V. Dhinakaran.

Meanwhile, A. C. Shanmugam, founder of the Puthiya Needhi Katchi, said he has conveyed to Goyal his party’s readiness to contest nine seats under the BJP’s symbol. Referring to his previous performances in Vellore, Shanmugam noted that he had secured significant votes in earlier elections while contesting with both BJP and AIADMK support.

Tamil Nadu will vote in a single phase on April 23, with counting scheduled for May 4. The tenure of the current 234-member Assembly is set to end on May 10.
