As per the latest trends released by the Election Commission, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is leading in 98 out of Assam’s 126 assembly constituencies, while the Congress is ahead in 25 seats.

Among NDA partners, the BJP is leading in 78 constituencies, while its allies — the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) — are ahead in 10 seats each. On the opposition side, Congress holds leads in 25 seats, and its ally Raijor Dal is ahead in one constituency.

The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) is currently leading in two seats, while the CPI(M) has taken a lead in one constituency.

In Khowang, AJP leader Lurinjyoti Gogoi, who was earlier ahead, has now fallen behind BJP candidate Chakradhar Gogoi.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is leading in Jalukbari, whereas Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi is trailing BJP’s Hitendranath Goswami in Jorhat.

AGP president Atul Bora and its working president Keshab Mahanta, both part of the Sarma cabinet, are ahead in Bokakhat and Kaliabor, respectively.

Former Congress leaders Pradyut Bordoloi and Bhupen Borah, who switched to the BJP before the elections, are leading in Dispur and Bihpuria.

Several ministers, including Ranoj Pegu, Pijush Hazarika, Ashok Singhal, Prashanta Phukan, and Bimal Borah, are also maintaining leads in Dhemaji, Jagiroad, Dhekiajuli, Dibrugarh, and Tingkhong, respectively.

Vote counting began at 8 am, starting with postal ballots. The process is being conducted at 40 counting centres across 35 districts. While most districts have a single centre, Nagaon has three centres, and Kokrajhar, Tinsukia, and Jorhat each have two.
