Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held a telephonic conversation with Mohammed bin Salman, during which both leaders discussed the escalating situation in West Asia.

In a post on X, Modi said he reiterated India’s strong condemnation of attacks on regional energy infrastructure and stressed the importance of maintaining secure global shipping routes.

“We agreed on the need to ensure freedom of navigation and keep shipping lines open and secure,” the Prime Minister said, while also thanking the Saudi leadership for its continued support to the Indian community in Saudi Arabia.

The conversation is part of India’s broader diplomatic outreach following the outbreak of the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which has heightened concerns over global energy security and maritime stability.

Meanwhile, Iranian state media, including Fars News Agency, reported claims that Iran had struck two US Army “hideouts” in Dubai, allegedly causing heavy casualties. These claims have not been independently verified.

According to the reports, a spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said more than 500 US personnel were present at the targeted locations. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was said to have carried out missile and drone strikes on the sites.

The spokesperson also issued a sharp warning to US forces in the region, amid rising hostilities.

In parallel developments, reports from US media suggest that the Pentagon may deploy troops from the 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East, indicating a possible escalation in military preparedness.

There are also indications that a potential ground operation near Kharg Island is being considered, with Iran reportedly reinforcing its presence in the area and laying defensive mines.
