President Droupadi Murmu paid a visit to the Sri Lakshmi Narayani Golden Temple at Sripuram in Vellore district on Wednesday, marking a brief yet significant stop during her tour of Tamil Nadu. The visit was marked by traditional rituals and ceremonial honours accorded to the President on her arrival at the revered temple complex.
 
Upon reaching the temple premises, President Murmu was warmly welcomed by temple authorities and taken around the Sri Lakshmi Narayani Golden Temple, popularly known as the Sripuram Golden Temple. She offered prayers at the sanctum, seeking blessings amid elaborate religious customs, reflecting the spiritual importance of the shrine, which attracts devotees from across the country.
 
During her visit, the President also inaugurated a newly constructed meditation hall within the temple complex. Built at a cost of Rs 5 lakh, the facility is aimed at providing a peaceful space for devotees and visitors to engage in meditation and spiritual reflection. The inauguration highlighted the temple’s continued efforts to promote inner well-being alongside religious worship.
 
 
Earlier in the day, President Murmu arrived at the Sripuram helipad, where she was received by Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi, senior state officials, and members of the local administration. Tight security arrangements were in place throughout the visit, ensuring a smooth and orderly programme.
 
The President’s visit underscored the cultural and spiritual heritage of Tamil Nadu and reaffirmed the importance of such sacred institutions in fostering values of peace, devotion, and harmony.
