President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit Rourkela in Odisha’s Sundergarh district on April 21, and address a public meeting and launch several welfare projects, officials said on Saturday.

Chief Secretary Anu Garg held a review meeting to oversee preparations for the President’s visit, they said.

DGP Y B Khurania, along with senior police officers, joined the meeting virtually to finalise security arrangements, the officials said.

Murmu will arrive at Jharsuguda airport at 10:25 am on April 21, and proceed to Rourkela by helicopter, an official release said.

The President is scheduled to address a public meeting at Sector-13 in Rourkela and inaugurate several welfare projects, including the Integrated Command Control Centre building, Science Park and Planetarium, and Promod Udyan in Koel Nagar, it said.

Murmu will then visit the Tribal Museum and the Command Control Centre in Rourkela.

She is expected to depart from Rourkela in the afternoon, returning via Jharsuguda to New Delhi by 4:50 pm, the release said.
