Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Pankaj Bhoyar on Thursday said a probe is underway to trace the origins and network behind the ₹192-crore drug haul recently uncovered in Wardha district.
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) earlier this week busted a mephedrone manufacturing unit in Wardha and seized 128 kg of the synthetic drug, valued at ₹192 crore. Three persons — including the alleged mastermind who also acted as the financier and chemist — were arrested during the operation conducted on Sunday and Monday, officials said.
Responding to queries over the large quantity of contraband found in the district, Bhoyar said the unit has been sealed.
“An investigation is underway to trace the roots of this drug racket,” he told reporters at the Vidhan Bhavan premises here.
