Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said India has consistently followed a balanced diplomatic policy under Narendra Modi and indicated that the country could play a larger role in resolving international conflicts, including the ongoing crisis in West Asia.

Speaking at an Indian community event hosted at the Embassy of India in Berlin, Singh said India has continuously supported peace efforts, though outcomes depend on the right timing and global circumstances.

He said the prime minister had appealed to all sides involved in the conflict to end hostilities and added that India’s diplomatic stance remains measured and constructive. Singh noted that India’s role in peacebuilding could expand in the future and should not be ruled out.

Referring to global conflicts, Singh said Modi had discussed peaceful solutions during meetings with Vladimir Putin, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump.

The minister also praised India’s geopolitical positioning, saying the country maintains friendly relations with multiple sides and is viewed as neutral and trustworthy. He cited the movement of Indian ships through the Strait of Hormuz as an example of effective diplomacy.

Earlier in his address, Singh said the visit was his first to Germany and came at the invitation of Boris Pistorius. He said 2026 is significant as it marks 75 years of formal diplomatic ties between India and Germany.

Singh added that bilateral relations have grown steadily across sectors and noted that Germany is India’s largest trading partner in Europe. He said more than 2,000 German companies operate in India, while Indian firms are also expanding their presence in Germany.
