Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday congratulated the Tiranga Mountain Rescue (TMR) team for successfully completing its 2025-26 winter deployment operations without any untoward incident despite the challenging conditions in the Himalayan region.
Singh visited a photo exhibition titled A Decade of Silent Service to the Nation, organised by TMR at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi to mark the organisation’s ten years of service in high-altitude rescue operations.
Addressing the gathering, the Defence Minister praised TMR founder Hemant Sachdeva and the rescue team for their dedication and commitment to public service. He said the organisation’s work serves as an inspiration and acknowledged the successful completion of the latest winter deployment.
Singh described the Himalayas as not only a snow-covered mountain range but also a natural shield for the country. He noted that during natural disasters in the Himalayan region, TMR works alongside the armed forces and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to help safeguard lives and maintain ecological balance.
The exhibition showcased photographs documenting TMR’s rescue and relief missions across India’s high-altitude regions, highlighting the organisation’s work, volunteer efforts, and the impact of its operations over the last decade.
Earlier in the day, Rajnath Singh attended the Joint Commanders Conference at the South Western Command headquarters in Jaipur, where he praised the execution of Operation Sindoor conducted against Pakistan in May 2025.
Referring to the military action, Singh described Operation Sindoor as a “short-duration, deep-penetration, high-intensity and high-impact” operation that reflected India’s collective determination and evolving military doctrine. His remarks came a day after the first anniversary of the operation on May 7.
